HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format used by iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. It stores photos at roughly half the file size of a traditional JPEG while maintaining the same visual quality, thanks to a more efficient compression algorithm. While this is great for saving storage space on your Apple device, HEIC is not widely supported across Windows computers, Android phones, and most websites and apps.
Most platforms — social media, email clients, job applications, online forms, and design tools — expect standard image formats like JPG or PNG. If you have tried uploading a photo from your iPhone and received an error, your file was likely in HEIC format. Converting it to JPG gives you a universally compatible image that opens on any device and uploads to any website without issues.
Choose JPG when file size matters. JPG is ideal for photographs and images with lots of colour. It compresses well and produces small files that are easy to share via email, messaging apps, or social media. The quality trade-off is minimal for most photos.

Is there a file size limit?
There is no enforced limit. Since conversion happens in your browser, the only constraint is your device's available memory. Most modern phones and computers handle even large HEIC files without any issues.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes. You can select or drop as many HEIC files as you like. They will all be queued and converted one by one, each with its own download link when done.
Will converting from HEIC reduce my image quality?
If you convert to PNG, there is zero quality loss. If you convert to JPG, there is a very small amount of compression applied, but at the quality setting used by convheic it is virtually invisible in normal photos.
